Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the AlterJam mobile app and this website (together, the “Service”), operated by Hicham Bardawil (“AlterJam”, “we”, “us”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Service.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country, if higher) to use AlterJam. By using the Service you confirm that you meet this requirement and that the information you provide is accurate.
2. Your account
You’re responsible for your account and for keeping your login credentials secure. You’re responsible for activity that happens under your account. Tell us promptly at support@alterjam.com if you suspect unauthorized use.
3. Your content
“Content” means anything you record, upload, or create on AlterJam — including audio recordings, tracks, jams, titles, images, and comments. You keep ownership of your Content.
You represent and warrant that you own or have all rights, licenses, and permissions needed to share your Content, and that it does not infringe anyone’s rights (including copyright, trademark, and privacy rights).
4. Licence you grant us
To operate the Service, you grant AlterJam a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, process, adapt, publicly perform, stream, and display your Content for the purpose of running and improving AlterJam. Because AlterJam is collaborative, you also grant other users the ability to listen to and build upon Content you publish (for example, adding their own tracks to your jam). This licence lasts as long as your Content is on the Service, plus a reasonable period to remove it from backups.
5. AI processing
AlterJam uses automated and AI-based processing to operate features such as recording cleanup, bleed removal, and auto-mixing. By uploading Content, you permit us to process it in these ways to provide those features. AI-assisted results are provided “as is” and may not always be perfect.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to use AlterJam to:
- upload Content you don’t have the rights to, or that infringes others’ intellectual property;
- post unlawful, hateful, harassing, abusive, sexually explicit, or otherwise objectionable material;
- impersonate others or misrepresent your affiliation;
- distribute malware, spam, or attempt to disrupt or reverse-engineer the Service;
- collect other users’ data without permission, or violate any applicable law.
7. Reporting and moderation
You can report a jam from its menu in the app. We review reports and may remove Content or restrict accounts that violate these Terms. We don’t pre-screen all Content and aren’t responsible for Content posted by users, but we may remove anything at our discretion.
8. Intellectual property
The AlterJam name, logo, app, and website (excluding user Content) are owned by AlterJam and protected by law. These Terms don’t grant you any right to use our branding without permission.
9. Termination
You may stop using AlterJam and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms or use the Service in a way that could harm AlterJam or its users.
10. Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We don’t guarantee the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that Content will always be preserved.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, AlterJam will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for loss of data, profits, or Content, arising from your use of the Service.
12. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold AlterJam harmless from claims arising out of your Content or your breach of these Terms, including claims that your Content infringes someone’s rights.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We’ll revise the “Last updated” date above, and significant changes will be reflected here. Continued use of the Service after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
